The man who died after being stabbed at a flat in Tennyson House, Canterbury, on Saturday has been named as former the Archbishop's School pupil, Andrew Wilby.

Mr Wilby, 21, of St Stephen’s Road, Canterbury, was the son of Anne and Robert Wilby who say they and the rest of his family and friends are shocked and heartbroken by his death.

His died from a single stab wound to the back in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Two women aged 22 and 23 and from the city were arrested on suspicion of his murder.

One was released without charge while the other is on bail and must return to the police station on August 18.

Paying tribute to their son, his parents said he was deeply loved and had a generosity of spirit and compassion for all those close to him.

They added: "He had only celebrated his 21st birthday on June 14. He was vibrant, strong-willed and independent and was known for his courage and zest for life."

Andrew, who was educated at Northbourne Park School, St Stephen’s Primary School and the Archbishop School, Canterbury, had a passion to join the army and was involved in the selection process at the time of his death.

He also leaves a sister, Frances, 18, and brother, David, 23.
