This is former Canterbury High School pupil Will Roberts tucking into his 18th birthday cake.
Will is recovering in hospital in London after being left in a coma when he was hit by a car eight weeks ago.
He was joined by mum Michelle, her husband John, and his brothers and sisters to celebrate his 18th on Saturday - sporting a new Man Utd kit which was among his presents.
Will, of Querns Road, Canterbury, remembers the accident which happened in Dover and left him with serious head injuries.
But he cannot recall some things he says hour to hour and faces years of neuro-rehabilitation.
He has already started occupational and speech therapy.
Michelle said: “It was a lovely day and he loved his presents.
“He’d asked for a little angel cake and a new Man Utd kit for his 18th birthday.
“He remembers who we all are and the day of the incident but sometimes doesn’t know what he’s just said."
A third operation to replace part of his skull last month was successful.
•Will's family and friends marked his birthday with a night out in Canterbury wearing specially printed T-shirts with his picture on.For full story, see this week's Kentish Gazette.

She was hit by a car in Nackington Road last Monday.
