A teenager has been killed after being hit by a lorry in central Canterbury.
The local man, who police have not yet named, was in Link Lane behind Burgate at 11.45pm on Friday when the collision happened.
He was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford where he later died.
Police closed the narrow road, which connects Iron Bar Lane to Canterbury Lane, for five hours while officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit examined the scene.
A 49-year-old lorry driver from Wales was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has been released on bail until October 6 pending further inquiries.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident or may have any information which could help this investigation.
