CAMPAIGN group Fathers 4 Justice handed out leaflets and membership forms to people in Canterbury city centre at the weekend.
Five members of the Kent branch, dressed as Batman, Robin and Spiderman, took part in the demonstration, assisted by two women.
Branch spokesman Darren Ash, who lives in Herne Bay, said: "There was lots of interest and we were more than happy with the response. Lots of men and quite a few women asked for membership forms.
"It was the first time we had campaigned in Canterbury because the Kent branch hasn't been going for that long but we were very well received. We did not hear anyone criticise the group and hope to do some more things in Canterbury in the future."
Mr Ash said the group had to promise not to carry out any stunts in order to get a permit from Canterbury council to collect money.
"Our main aim in the city was to raise awareness among people that there is now a Kent branch of Fathers 4 Justice," Mr Ash said.
The Kent group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at Tyler Hill Memorial Hall.
