Faversham Town have decided to axe their successful reserve team in an effort to concentrate resources on the club’s youth structure.
The Lilywhites’ second string finished runners-up in Division 1 of the Kent Hurlimann League last season, having gone into the campaign as defending champions.
Manager Bob Reardon, who was standing down at the end of the season anyway, also led the side to two cup semi-finals.
But after a review of the club’s structure by the board, it was decided to make changes.
"This was not an easy decision to make," read a club statement.
"It is likely that there will be a Ryman under-21 league in operation in 2013/14. This league will allow two over-age players and we aim to be in a position at the end of the 2012/13 season to consider entering a side in this league in 2013/14."
The club will also be running just one side at under-18 level but are forming a new under-14 team.
"These changes will enable us to establish our position in the Ryman League and transfer resources to our youth set-up which we feel provides the future of our club," the statement added.
