Faversham Town caretaker boss Ray Turner believes the club are looking to appoint a new manager before the end of the season.

Former youth team manager Turner (pictured) has already thrown his name into the hat to get the job at Salters Lane permanently but chairman Bob Mason also confirmed that several people have already contacted the club interested in the vacancy.

Turner expects he and coach Clive Walker to meet Mr Mason and vice-chairman Tony Gray in the next fortnight, as the club decide which direction to go, after Justin Luchford’s shock departure.

Canterbury fireman Turner has brought in station colleague Simon Brown to boost his injury-hit squad.

He said: "I spoke to Simon Halsey (Herne Bay manager) and chairman John Bathurst and they did us a favour allowing the signing to go through without a seven-day approach. Simon wasn’t getting games at Bay, so was happy to come."

Turner confirmed that defender Matt Bourne has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a groin injury, while Bathgate will miss the home game against Whyteleafe on Saturday due to family reasons

He added: "They have lost their last three games but had been on a good run before that, and I am expecting another tough game."
