Faversham boss Ray Turner has called on his players to ‘rise to the challenge’ of playing a wounded Hythe side in another Ryman League Division 1 South derby on Saturday.
The two teams suffered mixed fortunes in their festive derbies this week, the Lilywhites go into the game on the back of a 4-0 win over Sittingbourne on Tuesday while Hythe were demolished 8-0 at Folkestone on Boxing Day.
Turner (pictured) hailed his players for bouncing back from the disappointment of one point from six against Chipstead, but warned that Hythe will be a stern test.
He said: "It was a really important win for us on Tuesday. We were a little bit disappointed with our points tally in December.
"After losing your last home game it’s important to bounce back as soon as possible, getting three points after you suffer a disappointment consolidates your place in the league. It’s done that."
He added: "Hythe are in our target area really – that top-10 area. They have done well but they’re going to be coming here fired up after the Folkestone game.
"We’ve got to deal with a battle. If we can deal with that and get a result it would stand us in good stead for the second half of the season."
