Faversham Town skipper Tom Hickman is set to play through the pain barrier again as they finish a successful first Ryman League Division 1 South campaign at Worthing on Saturday.
Hickman (pictured) made a surprise return to the side in the 3-1 win against Sittingbourne on Monday, after dislocating his shoulder in a mountain bike accident earlier this month, and manager Ray Turner praised physio Gary Metcalfe for performing a "minor miracle" in getting him on the pitch.
He said: "Gary is experienced working with rugby injuries and strapped Tom up. He was in lot of pain but wanted to play and Gary didn’t think the shoulder was at risk."
Reflecting on the debut season, Turner said: "We are only four points off the play-offs and are looking to finish as the top Kent club which will be a great achievement.
"It was a big step-up, the Ryman League is challenging every week. We have lost only 11 games out of 41 and only the Met Police have done the double over us."
Turner says he and coach Clive Walker will talk to the players before and after the game against Worthing on Saturday as they start planning for next season.
He said: "I want to find out if they want to be at the club, as we look to retain and add for next season."
Dane Luchford returns to the squad this weekend after a lengthy ban following two dismissals.
