Canterbury: Five people arrested after robberies in Atheltan Road and Godwin Road

Three teenage boys and two women in their 20s have been arrested following two night-time robberies in Canterbury.

A pizza delivery driver was assaulted before cash and his mobile phone were stolen in Athelstan Road at about 12.30am.

About an hour later in Godwin Road, a man was dragged from his car in a communal car park.

His keys were grabbed and his black Fiat Punto was stolen and driven off towards Cockering Road.

A group of five, all from the Canterbury area, were caught and arrested by police in Shallock Road, Broad Oak just after 5am.

A 21-year-old woman and a 26-year-old woman have both been released on bail until Thursday, April 12 while a 17-year-old boy and one 15-year-old boy have been bailed until tomorrow.

Meanwhile, another 15-year-old boy has been released while inquiries continue.

Detective inspector Dave Cox said: "We are linking the two robberies and are following a number of lines of inquiry.

"We are also appealing for anyone who saw either incident or who saw the black Fiat Punto in the Canterbury or Broad Oak area in the early hours to contact us."
