A GIRL gang attacked a group of female foreign students with stones and bottles in Sturry Road at Canterbury.

Police are asking witnesses to the verbal and physical abuse of a group of Austrian English-language students to come forward.

The attack happened close to Burger King in Sturry Road between 10.30pm and 11pm on Sunday, September 22.

Members of the gang followed the students towards the city centre continuing to shout at them. They then became violent, throwing food, stones and bottles.

The students ran to another street nearby where they were able to flag down a passing taxi who took them to safety.

All three girls involved in the incident are described as white and aged between 15 and 16. One was small in height with very long, brown hair, the second around 5ft 8ins with long nails, large gold earrings and a piercing to her upper lip. A third girl is described as having a pierced tongue and very long "mousey", dirty hair.

Police are eager to speak to the taxi driver who collected the girls and the driver of a Right Guard Security Vehicle who was also in the area.

A spokesman said: "The students found this incident very frightening and we are eager to find anyone who may be able to help identify the three girls involved."

The students have now returned home to Austria.
