Former King's School Fencing coach appears in court on sex assault charges

A Former King's School fencing coach has appeared before magistrates charged with sexually assaulting a girl and abusing a position of trust.

Paul Romang, 57, of Grange Way, Broadstairs, is accused with the assault and abuse of trust against a 16-year-old girl, is alleged to have taken place between September and December last year.

Abusing a position of trust is defined in the Sexual Offences Act 2000 as a person who holds a position of trust over another and who may not engage in sexual relations with that person.

Appearing at Canterbury Crown Court on Friday (August 14), Mr Romang witheld pleas to both charges.

He was released on bail and is due to appear at Canterbury Crown Crown on Friday, October 9.
