Former Stoke City striker Tunji Agbajae could make his Herne Bay debut against fellow Ryman League Division 1 South high-fliers Burgess Hill on Saturday.

Agbajae, 18, is in Bay boss Simon Halsey’s thoughts after scoring twice for the reserves in a 4-3 win at Erith at the weekend.

The youngster is set to be in the squad and may even start when fifth-placed Bay take on a Hillians team who sit sixth.

Halsey (pictured) said: "Tunji’s agent is trying to get him a club in the Football League but, as we’ve seen with Byron Walker, that’s easier said than done.

"Hopefully he can score a few goals for us and put himself in the shop window. He’s scored goals for the reserves and should be ready for the first team.

"He ought to be comfortable at this level, I certainly hope so. I’ll sleep on it and make a decision on whether to start him when I wake up on Saturday morning."

Halsey is expecting news on Walker’s future at the end of this week but could say no more. The striker has previously been on trial at League 1 Oldham.

Walker is unlikely to feature against Burgess Hill as Bay look to close in on Halsey’s target of 15 points from the first 10 matches.

The Bay boss said: "I don’t know too much about Burgess Hill but I made the mistake earlier in the season of worrying too much about other teams.

"I was changing our system because of who we were playing and it wasn’t working. It’s best we play to our strengths and let the other team worry about us."
