A four-vehicle pile up has closed a road.

Traffic is queueing on the A28 Island Road both ways between Sarre and Upstreet.

Police have blocked the route after the accident near the junction of Old Road in Sarre.

Emergency services are in attendance.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and expect delays in the area.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police is attending a report of a collision involving four cars in Island Road, Upstreet near Canterbury.

"Officers were called to the scene at 8.12am on Wednesday 2 May and work to recover the vehicles is ongoing.

"No serious injuries have been reported at this stage."
