A Multiple Sclerosis centre is shaping up for a TV appearance to boost its £1.5million appeal.

Eight clients of the Kent MS Therapy Centre in Merton Lane, Canterbury, have formed a synchronised display team using their mobility scooters and will perform on the Paul O’Grady show on Channel 4 on Friday.

Last Saturday, the centre was given a £11,466.93 donation, raised by four cyclists who rode between Vietnam and Cambodia in February.

Among the riders was Charles Getliffe, from Sandling, near Folkestone, whose wife has a friend suffering from MS. He joined Alex Fortescue, Simon Slinn and Ray Loft for the fund-raiser in Asia.

They handed the money to the centre’s special projects co-ordinator Christine Lux at Adisham Village Hall.

The appeal aims to provide a new centre on the same site in Merton Lane if a planning application for it is successful.

Christine Lux said: “We have a long way to go but this was another significant step for the appeal and we are very grateful. The display team is planning to perform all over the country this summer and there are other key events for us coming up to help push up the appeal."
