A Canterbury graduate has posed in a photo with prime minister Theresa May resembling the “world’s greatest selfie”.
Tamanna Miah, 24, appears alongside the UK leader and French president Emmanuel Macron.
Dubbed “le selfie”, the snap mirrors the famous Oscars selfie in 2014 which included Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and a host of other Hollywood A-listers.
Instead of film stars, the grinning world leaders are joined by young leaders and young local leaders from the Franco British Council.
Canterbury resident Miss Miah, who attended the French-British summit’s reception in the V&A Museum last night, says the political leaders were more than happy to pose for the photo.
"Miss Miah, who hopes for a future in media and politics, has been part of the young Franco-British Council for about six months.
They are a group of 15 young individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who aim to have a positive impact on their communities.
She said: "I asked for a quick photo and Mr Macron decided that he wanted to take it."
"It's quite odd seeing the photo all over social media. Everyone's tagged one another throughout the day because of it, which is unusual.
“He took it from me and we all gathered around - but had no plan to replicate the famous Oscars selfie.
“The two leaders were both happy to get engaged and were both very friendly.”
Founded in 1972, The Franco-British Council is an independent organisation based in Paris and London. It aims to promote a positive relationship and help create a better mutual understanding between the two nations.
