The fiasco engulfing a Canterbury grammar has taken a bizarre turn with the head teacher reporting a parent to police for harassment.
Jane Robinson, head of Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar, has made a formal complaint to officers against parent Richard Davis.
Mr Davis is among a number of parents who vocally opposed the school’s bid to convert to academy status.
Last week the Kentish Gazette reported how the grammar had sensationally scrapped its plans after key members of the governing board stepped down.
Langton’s under- fire head faces an online vote of no confidence with just short of 400 supporters.
Mr Davis is known to have fired off a number of complaints and inquiries to both the school governing body and Kent County Council.
In a post left on the Simon Langton Girls Grammar School Parents Forum on Facebook, he reveals an email apparently sent to him by chairman of governors Dr Ash Rehal.
In the email, Dr Rehal apparently writes: “Mrs Robinson has reported your harassment of her, through social media and by email to her personally, to the police.
“She has been given an incident number and has been given the advice that you are to make no more direct contact with her, as any further harassment by you will mean that the police will bring criminal actions against you.”
KentOnline has contacted both Mr Davis and the school for a response.
Mr Davis said: “I am deeply embarrassed for Jane Robinson and Ash Rehal, that they believe a suitable response, when being openly held to account in public office is 'I’m calling the police on you for harassment'.
"It is deeply immature and unprofessional on the part of them both to go to such lengths to avoid transparency."
The school has yet to respond.
A police spokesman said: “I can confirm we have received a report of harassment and inquiries are ongoing.
