Kent's Charlotte Edwards led England to a comfortable nine wicket win over India in their second match of the Women's World Cup at the North Sydney Oval.

Second wicket pair Caroline Atkins and Claire Taylor both hit 69 not out in a stand of 125, as England cruised home on 172-1 with more than 11 overs to spare.

Edwards decision to field first paid off handsomely as India were dismissed for 169 all-out,and claimed the last wicket for figures of 1-10 from 10 balls

The bowlers were backed up by some impressive fielding, with Kent team-mate Lydia Greenway claiming three catches.

England's next match is against Pakistan on Thursday.
