POLICE are hunting a man who threatened staff at a cash and carry with a handgun before making off with £5,000 in cash.

A man entered the Booker Cash and Carry in Broad Oak Road, Canterbury, and pointed what appeared to be a handgun at a female cashier.

He was handed a package containing more than £5,000 and ran out of the store. The offender was seen getting into a white Ford Escort, which was driven by a second man.

The car was later found abandoned in Hever Place.

The man who threatened the cashier is described as white, aged in his late 30s, tall and unshaven. He was wearing a green anorak with the hood up and dark tracksuit bottoms.

Nobody was injured during the raid, but the cashier was left extremely shaken by the experience.
