THIS year’s Herne Bay Festival will run from Saturday, August 20 until Sunday, August 28.
The nine-day programme will be packed full of events for all the family and feature plenty of activities to keep the school holidays fun. Added to that, the majority of events are free to attend.
Festival director Liz Flynn is excited about the summer ahead.
She said: “This year is shaping up to be another great one, with some fantastic events that people will not want to miss. We’ll be keeping the festival website up to date throughout the year with all the latest news and programme updates.”
Last year crowds were entertained along the seafront and in the town with events including Rock Around The Clocktower, Herne Bay’s Got Talent and the classic car motor show.
The festival began in 1993 and has become a summer focus for Herne Bay. Canterbury City Council believes it is important the programme reflects the town and people who live in it.
Liz added: “We’ve always had huge support from local community groups and businesses, and 2011 will be no exception. We already have groups and organisations working on their parts of the events making up this year’s programme.
“There are lots of ways in which people can get involved, and we would love to hear from anyone who is interested in joining in. So, why not get in touch while the programme is being developed.”
The full programme will be announced in early summer 2011.
