Herne Bay boss Simon Halsey will open talks with Whitstable Town midfielder Dan Wisker over a move to Winch’s Field on Thursday.

Halsey worked with Wisker during his coaching days at the Belmont and is keen to add him to his squad.

Bay made a seven-day approach last week and are now free to speak to the former Margate man.

Halsey (pictured) said: “Dan’s a player I know well from my time at Whitstable. He’s a good footballer who would vary my options in midfield, so hopefully we can do a deal.

“He’s one of those players you can play behind the front two.”

If Wisker signs, he could be involved when Bay go to Ryman League, Division 1 South leaders Crawley Down on Saturday.

The Sussex side are unbeaten but hold no fears for Halsey, who said: “We’re on a decent run of form ourselves, so we go there full of confidence.

“We’re playing good football and creating chances. Twenty-odd crosses went into the box against Sittingbourne on Saturday.

"If we keep that up and our movement’s good enough to get on the end of them, then we’ll be winning plenty of games.

“Crawley Down are top but it’s too early to say who’s good and who’s not at this stage. Apparently they’ve got a few bob but money isn’t everything.

“We’re three league games unbeaten and I do love going on runs. It breeds confidence and a winning mentality.”
