Byron Walker hopes to find out on Friday if a dream move into the Football League has moved a step closer.

The 24-year-old Herne Bay striker is due to meet his Manchester-based agent Christopher Adedeji, with League 1 side Oldham one of the clubs believed to be interested in him.

Walker played two reserve games on trial for the Lancashire club at the end of last season, scoring a penalty in a 2-1 win against Bury.

He said: "I spent a few days there and Mr Dickov (manager Paul) said he was impressed and asked to me to extend my stay. It was great to meet him and be part of a professional environment and playing league football is more than a dream."

He added: "Christopher is due back from Belgium today (Thursday) and I hope to speak to him tomorrow.

"I think he has been in discussions with Oldham. He also says there are a few things and other possibilities to discuss as well. I know he is pretty keen to get me in at a pro club and there is interest."

Dickov, the Oldham boss, said this week: "I liked what I saw but that is as far as it goes at the moment. However, we are still monitoring him."

Walker also had a trial with German side Wiesbaden last November and they wanted him back, but work and Bay’s FA Vase commitments meant he couldn’t make the trip.
