Hit-and-run driver hunted after crash during police chase in Sturry, near Canterbury

A suspected hit-and-run driver who fled the scene after a police chase ended in a crash is being hunted by officers.

A moped rider was taken to hospital after a collision in Sturry, near Canterbury, this afternoon.

It came after police attempted to stop a car in Broad Oak Road, Canterbury at 12.40pm.

After the driver failed to stop, the car collided with the moped on the A28 Island Road, Sturry near the village’s railway station.

The driver fled on foot.

A police spokesperson said: “A car failed to stop for police when requested to do so in Broad Oak Road, Canterbury.

“The car then collided with a moped on the A28 Island Road, Sturry, before the driver left the car.

“The moped rider reported injuries and was taken to a local hospital.”

Inquiries are ongoing to locate the car driver.
