DOZENS of residents were again evacuated in Tenterden Drive, Canterbury, this afternoon after demolition workmen reported another smell of gas.
Safety engineers were called in and police cleared the area so the source of the smell could be investigated.
But the alarm was called off 30 minutes later and people allowed to return to their homes.
The street was the scene of a devastating gas explosion on Monday last week which left several families homeless.
The smell is thought to have come from pockets of gas which still lingered under the rubble from the blast which was released when debris was disturbed.
