Firefighters tackling house fire in Railway Hill, Barham, outside Canterbury

Five fire engines were at the scene of a house blaze outside Canterbury which has sparked a power blackout.

Police and ambulance crews were also in attendance in Railway Hill, Barham.

Firefighters urged nearby residents to keep their windows and doors shut due to the smoke.

Power is out at 200 village homes as a result of the incident - with UK Power Networks trying to resolve the issue.

Crews were alerted to the fire just after 2.20pm and stood down at 4.40pm.

The cause of the blaze - from which there have been no casualties - is not yet known.
