People in Whitstable Road, Canterbury, woke up to a surprising sight on Friday morning.
Three cast iron metal bollards protecting homes from vehicles at the lower end of the road had been flattened.
It is thought that at just after midnight a car ploughed over them, virtually removing them from their fixtures.
Witnesses saw a man later clearing debris from the road before leaving in the car believed to have struck the bollards.
Police have been informed of the incident.
Spokesman James Walker said: "At 7.43am on Friday, July 29 Kent Police received a report that three bollards in Whitstable Road, Canterbury, had been damaged.
"The incident is believed to have happened overnight and the local authority has been informed of the damage."
