Two wheelie bins caught alight in the same road half an hour apart causing firefighters to issue a warning about unnessecary call outs.

Canterbury crew members said they were frustrated after receiving a call at 3.30am to a fire inside a wheelie bin in Cockering Road, Thanington.

After extinguishing the blaze and returning to the station, they returned to the street after another fire at 4am.

Police have been informed of the fires and are believed to be investigating.

Crew manager Mick Godden said: "We just want people to be aware that every time we are called out we are not able to rescue other people who are in need, so please refrain from calling us out unnecessarily."
