A TELEVISION property programme has revealed just what a hot location for home-buyers Canterbury has become.
Channel 4’s Location, Location, Location was in the city to help buyer Sonia Patel get on the property ladder.
On Tuesday night, viewers saw presenters Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer, who grew up in the area, helping Sonia find her first home with a budget of £190,000.
But as fast as she viewed properties, offers were coming in for them - and the one she wanted most was sold from under her nose for more than the asking price.
She viewed four properties - two flats and two terraced houses - found by the presenters before eventually settling for a three-bedroomed home outside the city walls.
But the programme also featured some of the city’s most picturesque locations, including the Westgate Gardens, Dane John Gardens and views of the Cathedral.
David Venton, senior partner of estate agents Amos and Dawton said: “I think the programme showed Canterbury in a very good light and I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a flurry of inquiries.”
Sales and marketing manager of Regal Estates Matthew Moxey added: “I think it is fair to say the market generally has cooled a bit since the programme was made but Canterbury certainly remains a very popular location.”
