Kent Cricket Club’s annual meeting on Monday promises to be a lively affair.
Among items under the spotlight will be another set of poor financial figures, a big rise in subscriptions, re-development of the St Lawrence ground and the search for a new overseas player, as well as the rapid departure of former chief executive Paul Millman. The county are expected to confirm the appointment of his successor.
Chairman George Kennedy, pictured, said: "It will be a tricky evening, but I will tell it the way it is.
"We will get a rough ride on the losses, and I will give reasons why it happened. We expect comments on the subscriptions increase from last season but I hope people will realise that considering how much money we lost, we had to do something.
"It’s a members' club, and the only the way you get the money is from them, or from marketing and other income.
"The recession hasn’t gone away yet, so we have to look after ourselves and if we want to survive, members have to help pay for it."
The meeting takes place in the Harris Room at the St Lawrence Ground, and starts at 7pm. Those attending should produce the AGM notice
and their membership card.
