Kent Pride – the annual LGBT community festival – has attracted more than 2,000 revellers to Canterbury city centre.
Crowds lined the streets to cheer as the colourful parade made its way to the Dane John Gardens.
Pride chairman Edd Withers has told KentOnline that organisers are jubilant with the turnout and atmosphere.
“We’re so chuffed. Canterbury and the county’s LGBT community have done us proud,” he said.
The parade was led by the city’s new Lord Mayor Cllr George Metcalfe.

He met with revellers outside the famous Marlowe Theatre for a photocall.
At around 1pm the parade set off up the High Street before winding its way to the park on the city centre’s edge.
Drag artist Lunar Lovejuice was among those taking part.
“It’s an amazing thing having Gay Pride in Canterbury because it brings the whole community together in a very religious city,” she said.
“It just shows that everyone supports us.”
The party is set to continue into through the afternoon and evening.
Whilst being an LGBT event, the Pride festival is a celebration of for all people, said some partygoers.
Among those taking part in the parade were church goers of the city centre parish.
Tessa Taylor said:” I’m here today because I want everybody in the world to know that they are loved by God.
“It’s a demonstration of our love for each other and our inclusiveness.”
Canterbury College students also joined the festivities.
Elliott Lawton said: “We’re here today to celebrate gay pride in Canterbury. I think it’s important, especially for us at the local college, that we come out in support of gay rights.
“I think it’s such an important time to show your support, to get out and say ‘yes’ to life and go for it.”
