Thunderstorm warning for Kent issued by The Met Office for a third day

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to hit Kent as The Met Office issues a yellow warning for the third day running.

The authority says storms are likely to cause flooding and travel disruption across the county on Thursday until 7pm.

It adds: “There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and hail leading to longer journey times.”

It also warns of possible damage to structures from lightning strikes and short term loss of power.

This is the third day in a row a yellow warning for storms has been issued across Kent.

Yesterday heavy showers were predicted between 1pm and 8pm and on Tuesday, a similar warning was issued between 11am and 10pm.

Today’s alert covers most of Kent and Medway, and the majority of eastern England, up to the Scottish border.
