Lucy Hyams scored the second half winner as EuroCanterbury Ladies beat Clifton 2-1 in the Investec Women’s Hockey League at Polo Farm on Saturday.
They trailed to Georgina Twigg’s 17 minute penalty corner, but Charlotte Craddock equalised with a free hit four minutes before half-time.
Hyams grabbed the winner on the hour with another open-play strike, the victory pushing Canterbury into fourth place.
David Mathews fired Canterbury to the top of Men’s Conference East scoring five in the 6-3 win over Indian Gymkhana on Sunday.
He followed up his hat-trick last week with another prolific display as the Polo Farm side moved two points clear of his old club and former leaders Holcombe, beaten 5-2 at home by Oxted, at the top of the table.
Mathews scored three in 20 minutes in the first half, and then added two more either side of Liam Foster’s open-play strike three minutes from the end.
