A man was arrested in a high street amid a police crackdown.
Officers on patrol in Canterbury during an east Kent operation tracked down a suspect who was later arrested on suspicion of breaching court bail orders not to enter the city centre between 7pm and 7am.
A picture from Kent Police showed the handcuffed man alongside two uniformed officers in St Peter’s Street near the city’s Zizzi restaurant.
He was also issued with a Community Protection Warning (CPW) for anti-social behaviour (ASB) following the incident on Friday, June 7.
Amid the operation, officers also spoke to groups of people behaving in an inconsiderate manner in the city.
The initiative also saw evening patrols carried out in Folkestone.
During these, two men were found with a class B drug after they were stopped and searched by officers. They were subsequently offered a community resolution.
Similarly, a man was charged in Margate with shoplifting and fraud after being detained by officers during an operation to keep people safe while out socialising.
Also on the evening of June 7, uniformed and plainclothes officers were in the town looking out for anyone displaying suspicious or predatory behaviour. Several stop-and-searches were completed and intelligence reports were gathered as part of the police activity.
Following the police crackdown, East Kent Superintendent Daniel Carter said deploying plain clothes officers in areas that become busy in the evening can help them spot anything suspicious.
“From predatory behaviour towards women and girls to anti-social behaviour to people we believe may be linked to offences previously reported to us,” he said.
“Operations such as this support our work to remove criminals from the streets of Kent and ensure our county remains a safe place to socialise - for the benefit of our residents, visitors and businesses alike.”
