Canterbury man charged with common assault and possessing a weapon after residents apparently threatened

A man has been charged with common assault and possessing a weapon after allegedly threatening residents at their home.

Police were called to a house in Long Meadow Way, Canterbury , just after 8pm on Monday after reports people had been threatened and windows had been damaged during a disturbance.

Peter Smith, 39, of Downs Road, Canterbury was arrested and charged with common assault, causing criminal damage, using threatening words or behaviour, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court via virtual link yesterday when he was remanded in custody.

The case will next be heard on September 22 at Medway Magistrates’ Court.
