A man has been charged with possessing an axe and creating “violent disorder” outside a Waitrose.
Erblin Haxhiaj of York Road, Ashford, was arrested with five others following a reports of a fracas outside the grocery store near St George's Place in Canterbury.
The episode took place at 6.08pm on Thursday 28 September 2023 as 999 reports of an altercation involving several men came in.
Police attended the scene but on arrival found the group had dispersed.
Officers cordoned off the area and an ambulance crew also attended.
A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Emergency services were later called to an address in Ashford, where a man reported injuries believed to be linked to the earlier incident.
“He was taken to a London hospital, from where he has since been discharged.”
As part of an ongoing investigation by Kent Police six people were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
Detectives have now charged Erblin Haxhiaj with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon, an axe.
The 30-year-old is due to appear before Folkestone Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 3 October.
The five other arrested people have been bailed pending further enquiries.
