A masked man wielding a 2ft sword raided a convenience store near Canterbury this morning.

The robber threatened to stab a terrified shop worker at the Londis in Wincheap before demanding money from the till.

He then fled the Zealand Road store with cash and scratchcards in the direction of Lime Kiln Road.

The 50-year-old shop worker, who gave his name as Wayne, said: "At about 9.30am this bloke came in all masked up and holding a sword.

"It was about 2ft long and he threatened me with it, saying I needed to empty the till and that he wanted the scratchcards. I just gave him what was there.

"He threatened me again, saying he would stab me if I tried to press the panic button. He was white and I reckon in his 40s.

"I'm pretty shaken up by it."

A number of police cars and officers were seen at the scene following the robbery.
