A Hersden man clubbed a woman over the head with a chair leg after getting high on drugs.
The attack happened just two months after Dean Wimble had been given a suspended jail sentence for another attack.
Wimble, 22 of St Albans Road was jailed for 16 months for the assault which he admitted.
And he was given a further 42 days by the judge at Canterbury Crown Court for a breach of the earlier order.
Prosecutor Donna East told how the victim, Amanda Hills was in St Albans Road talking to a friend in May last year.
Wimble came out and ordered her to leave - and when she refused he hit her over the head with a piece of wood.
Miss East told how Miss Hills staggered up the road unaware she was bleeding from her wound - and later needed four stitches.
In March, Wimble had been given a suspended jail sentence after punching and choking a girlfriend after she ended the relationship.
During the attack he made threats to kill her and burn down his ex-lover’s home, the court heard.
Kerry Waitt, defending, said at the time of the second attack,Wimble had been on drugs - and “saw red” when Miss Hills refused to leave.
“He now accepts that use of cannabis is harmful and has taken steps to stop.”
Mr Waitt said that doctors had also diagnosed that Wimble is suffering from a bipolar disorder.
Judge James O’Mahony said that Wimble’s drug use had made a “significant contribution” to his psychotic problems.
“Your earlier taking of drugs is a lesson to you and others who use skunk cannabis.
“I afraid that I have concluded that your offences are so serious that only an immediate sentence is appropriate. The gravity of these offences outweigh your person problems.”
