A country road was closed for almost three hours last night following a crash between two cars which resulted in a man being taken to hospital.

The collision happened about 5.15pm in Shalmsford Road, Chilham, and involved a Fiat and a Volvo.

Police, fire and ambulances services were called to the scene and the road was blocked causing congestion in surrounding roads during rush-hour.

An injured man was taken to local hospital and the road remained closed until about 8pm while the damaged vehicles were recovered.
