A man has been jailed for two and a half years for sexually abusing two youngsters when he was 16 - despite a judge ruling he did not pose a danger to children.
Daniel Duffy, 22, was convicted by a jury at Canterbury Crown Court of four sex charges involving the children.
But while awaiting trial he attacked a stranger in the street, punching him to the ground and then stamping on his face.
Judge Simon James passed consecutive sentences of 12, six and four months and then added another eight months for the assault, which Duffy admitted.
Duffy, of Oakside Road, Aylesham had denied the sex offences against the two victims 10 years ago.
Judge Simon James told him: “You subjected two young girls to inappropriate sexual touching and both have, quite understandably, been deeply affected by their ordeals.”
But the judge concluded that because of Duffy’s age at the time and the fact there had been no further sexual offending since, he did not meet the legal criteria for posing a danger to children.
Duffy was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for eight years and will be on the sex offenders' register for the next 10 years.
“Because you insist you did nothing wrong to these girls it is rather difficult for me to conclude that you have demonstrated any real insight or genuine remorse,” the judge added.
Prosecutor Peter Forbes said that in May, Duffy, who was on bail for the sex offences, committed a sustained and unprovoked attack on a 22 year old.
He said: “He punched the victim, Jack Bond, five times to the face, causing him to fall to the ground, before stamping on his forehead and choking him in a headlock, telling him: 'You are going to die now!'"
Footage of the attack was caught on CCTV and shown to the judge.
