Wingman Martyn Beaumont’s four tries were the highlight of a scrappy game as National 3 London & South East League leaders Canterbury rolled on to their sixth victory with a 48-21 win at Westcliff on Saturday.
It was a match the city side were expected to win and once they had scored four first-half tries to secure a bonus point, they were never in serious danger.
From an early Peter Kelly try, Canterbury built a potentially match-winning lead, only to hand Westcliff a couple of soft scores and reach half-time just six points ahead.
Ricky Mackintosh and Beaumont, pictured, were the other first-half scorers.
The second half was all about territory and Beaumont (2), George Micans and Nicky Woodbridge made the most of the possession while Will Hilton added three conversions to take his tally to eight points.
