Thugs wielding a meat cleaver have robbed a disabled Thanington man of £280.
A pair of men kicked at the front of Andrew Perrett’s modest home last Thursday night and demanded he pass £500 through the letterbox.
The 64-year-old went to the front door and saw one of the men brandishing the weapon.
In fear, he handed over £280.
Speaking to KentOnline Mr Perrett broke down as he recalled the robbery.
“It was awful, so frightening,” he said.
“I was just sitting downstairs and I heard this banging and I found these men there. I said ‘what do you want?’ Clear off’.
“They were saying they wanted £500 and I should pass it through the letterbox. He came in the house and I saw the meat cleaver. I gave them the money and I hoped that would be the end of it.

“It was terrifying.”
Mr Perrett, an ex-pupil of the former Frank Hooker School, suffers from a number of health problems and says it is years since he even left the house.
He lives there with his bed-ridden mother, Mary, 89. The few visitors they see are carers and other family members.
Mr Perrett says he had just been getting over the robbery when he fears that a second attempt was made to steal money from him.
At about 2.45pm, a young man knocked at his door and told him he needed to get a ball from the garden.
He later found that a window in his kitchen had been opened as if someone was trying to get in from outside.
Mr Perrett added: “I’m not rich. I don’t see why they can’t leave me alone.”
Police have given Mr Perrett a panic alarm to alert officers if another attempt is made to steal from him.
Officers are investigating whether the two incidents at Mr Perrett’s house are linked.
Anyone with information about either of the incidents can call police on 101 quoting ZY12147/16 or ZY/12794/16.
