A hat-trick by Gavin Gordon increased Whitstable's woes at the bottom of Ryman League Division 1 South as they lost 3-2 at Merstham on Saturday.
Gordon gave Merstham a 35th-minute lead but Stuart Vahid equalised for the Oystermen just before the break.
New Whitstable manager manager Mark Lane was hoping to follow up his first-match success against Ramsgate but Gordon had other ideas, scoring twice more in the second half, before Vahid doubled his tally late on following a corner from Tom Parker, pictured.
