POLICE concerns for the welfare of a six-year-old boy, after his father apparently failed to return him to his mother, have ended with the safe return of the child.

Ben Evans was due to go home to his mother, Gaynor at an address in Ash, near Canterbury, on Sunday and she raised the alarm when he failed to arrive.

The boy's father, Dennis Evans, aged 41, who is separated from the mother, took Ben on Friday as he had previously arranged to have him for the weekend.

Police had appealed for Mr Evans to come forward and it was discovered father and son were staying at a holiday camp in Hampshire.

Police say mother and son were reunited on Tuesday night.
