Model railway enthusiasts flocked to an exhibition in Canterbury at the weekend.

The 20th annual event staged by the City of Canterbury Model Railway Society attracted people from the UK and Europe to St Anselm’s School.

Exhibition manager Mark Pledger said: “The exhibition is an opportunity for people to see different layouts and they range from ones done in the 1940s style to the modern day.

“Despite the onset of computer games and technology, model railways remain popular and we are finding that computers are gradually being used to run the sets.

“Another reason they remain popular is that they allow you to create your own miniature world and there are a lot of different skills involved from landscaping to understanding about electrics and wiring.”
