A moped rider was taken to hospital with head injuries after crashing with a jeep.

The accident happened on the A291 at Herne Common, near the junction with Hicks Forstal Road, at 10.30am on Thursday morning (November 24).

Both the silver Piaggio moped and black Toyota Jeep were travelling towards Canterbury when the collision happened.

The male moped rider was taken to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate for treatment.

The male driver of the Toyota was not injured.

The road was completely closed while the emergency services dealt with the incident, and a short section of the Canterbury-bound lane remained closed for several hours after.
