A motorcyclist killed in a crash with a car near Faversham has been named as Mike Hill (pictured left).

The grandad-of-three, 60, died after his Triumph bike collided with a Honda Civic on Graveney Road at the junction with Homestall Lane, at 2.45pm on Wednesday.

A 62-year-old man from Faversham has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed until January.

Tributes have been paid to Mr Hill, the former president of the town's Chamber of Commerce.

His widow Ann Hill said his devastated family were still trying to come to terms with his death, describing her husband as a "devoted family man who loved to socialise."

She said: "He was very well known in the town and loved a cause, but he was also very much a family man.

"He also loved motorbikes and the freedom they gave him. There is some comfort in the fact that he died doing something he loved."

Mr Hill was born in London and began working life as an industrial chemist.

He was well-known in Faversham and for many years was president of the Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the Friends of Faversham Creek, Save Abbey Farm, the Faversham Club and the Faversham Society.
