KENT MP Julian Brazier has received a full apology from the Sunday Times over allegations about the salary he was allegedly paying his wife Kate.

Mr Brazier, who represents Canterbury and Whitstable, revealed he had received the following note from the paper's associate editor Bob Tyer:

"I’m writing to apologise for this mistake and for the embarrassment it has no doubt caused you and your wife.

"It was due to a foolish misunderstanding by the reporter involved. We will be printing an apology and correction next Sunday."

Mr Brazier said he was grateful for the apology and reiterated that his wife's contract has been listed with the Fees Office since 1990 and she is paid in accordance with their guidelines for her level of responsibilities and hours of work. “I now regard the matter as closed.”
