Eight people have been taken to hospital and one man is in a serious condition following a double-decker bus crash.
Police officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision involving a grey Lexus and a bus on the A28 Island Road, between Sarre and Upstreet.
The air ambulance, police, ambulance and fire crews were called to the scene just before 12.30pm.
Eight people were injured with seven being taken to the hospital by road while a man, in his 60s, was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London.
He remains in a serious condition and his next of kin are aware.
The road is closed between Upstreet and Birchington Square while recovery work is ongoing.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area while emergency services tended to the incident.
A spokesperson for Stagecoach confirmed that it was a route 8 bus travelling towards Canterbury which was involved in the collision.
“We understand that emergency services are at the scene and our first thoughts are for the wellbeing of all those involved,” they said.
The 8, 8A and 8X services were be diverted via Herne and the A299 to the St-Nicolas-at-Wade roundabout following the crash.
Three fire engines were sent to the crash, and two were later stood down.
