IRISH rock legend Van Morrison is to play this year’s Canterbury Festival.
He will perform two nights at the Marlowe Theatre in mid-October.
It is the second time the star has played the festival, having appeared in 2003.
Festival director Rosie Turner said: "Van Morrison coming here is a real endorsement of the festival. He is a world leader and normally plays much bigger venues.
"Last time he came he liked the audience, liked the place and is happy to come back.
"We really don’t know what to expect from him when he plays. He has a vast musical repertoire."
Morrison is likely to play some of his latest material plus some of his classic songs.
His concerts are at 7.30pm on Friday, October 14, and Saturday, October 15. Tickets cost £35.50 and £39.50 and go on general sale from August 8.
