A new Sainsbury's store is opening in a busy high street today.
The supermarket giant has taken over the 2,000sq ft Canterbury city centre premises formerly occupied by Tex-Mex chain restaurant Chimichanga.
Its new Sainsbury's Local store will offer a range of produce and convenience items including fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy products, an in-store bakery, sandwiches, drinks and snacks.
The shop will open at 9am today, and will then trade from 7am until 11pm every day of the week.
The new store has created 26 jobs, and will support a local charity as well as nationwide community programmes run by Sainsbury's.
Store manager Steve Bruce said: “We are delighted to be opening a brand new Local store in Canterbury, providing residents and shoppers with a convenient place to pick up their favourite grocery products at great value.
“The new store looks fantastic and we have a great team of colleagues who are really excited to welcome and serve customers.”
