Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom, who comes from Canterbury, has announced his engagement to model girlfriend Miranda Kerr.

The 33-year-old former St Edmund's School pupil and Pirates Of The Caribbean actor is set to tie the knot with the Australian model.

Miranda, 27, has been dating Orlando for about three years. The couple have denied past rumours that they were engaged.

Orlando's mother Sonia, who lives at Tyler Hill, near Canterbury said: "Miranda is a beautiful girl in all senses of the word. I think they will be very happy."
